Why Leisure Flying Is Ethically Unjustifiable

The answer is so simple, it is not ethical at all to fly for leisure. The science is so obviously clear: air travel is one of the fastest-growing sources of carbon emissions, and every flight contributes directly to global warming. While it may feel like a personal choice, it’s definitely not harmless. Choosing to board a plane purely for vacation during a climate crisis is a luxury at the expense of the planet and future generations.

Some argue that technology or carbon offsets will solve the problem, but those solutions are not helpful and often fail to match the scale of the emissions from flying planes. Meanwhile, while ice caps melt and animals die, to continue flying for fun, knowing this is happening, and that's, in my honest opinion, irresponsible.

This is about responsibility. If we care about the world we live in, we must accept limits, even on things we enjoy. There is no excuse for continuing to take flights as a leisure habit. Until air travel becomes fully carbon-neutral, the ethical choice is clear: stop flying for fun.
