AI risks and affect on cognitive wellbeing
AI poses risks to critical thinking and creativity because it can weaken people’s ability to solve problems on their own. When someone uses AI for everything, from homework help to writing ideas, they may stop practicing how to think through challenges step by step. Critical thinking requires effort, like questioning sources, noticing bias, and making judgments, but AI often gives answers in a way that seems confident and complete. That can make people trust information too easily without checking if it is actually accurate. Creativity is also affected because original ideas often come from independent thought and curiosity. If AI is always suggesting what to write, draw, or say next, people may slowly lose confidence in their own imagination. This is especially risky for students because school is supposed to build thinking skills, not replace them. AI can save time, but if it is overused, it may cause people to become passive instead of thoughtful and inventive.
