Social Health

The definition of “health” is a comprehensive state of physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease. I think this definition is very interesting because, typically, health is discussed in the context of mental or physical health, but this definition also extends to social well-being, which I find interesting. It reminds me of the pyramid of needs and how social connection is one of the foundational pieces. I think social health is very important for me at least because I feel empty and not well when I am alone, and I need social connections. Because of this, I think it is necessary to have social connections to thrive and be a healthy person.

I also wanted to include three things that make me happy when I am alone:

  • Walking, especially on a trail

  • Cooking/Baking

  • Eating yummy food or taking a drive

That’s my tangent!
