Normalizing is only harmful.
In my opinion, the normalization of lower body weight is harmful for society and the mental health of our community, especially young women. The idea that people should conform to a certain image of low body weight creates an objective beauty standard that obscures the reality that beauty and attraction should be subjective. The interesting thing is that the whole idea of low body weight is justified by health reasons, because obesity is connected to more serious health problems. However, by making weight an aesthetic thing, society has effectively made this lose meaning and actually contributed to more health problems, namely eating disorders, which lead to countless other side effects, by instead promoting a low weight on the bottom of the spectrum. Overexploitation of skinny culture, and honestly, any beauty standards, breeds judgment, discontent, and depression, threatening the well-being of everyone.
